Code|24 will resume this Saturday morning! The LaunchCats have been working tirelessly over the past few weeks putting this event together and we have a ton of exciting stuff planned for everyone. I would like to give you a few updates on the event this weekend to give you a better idea of what to expect going into the competition.

Time & Location

Code|24 will begin this Saturday morning (October 8th) at 11am. The event is located in Jabs Hall which is the business building located on the north side of Montana Hall. Teams can check in and will be assigned a space to set up their gear and work on their project. During the first hour of the event, teams are expected to plan our their idea and we encourage you to pick up students who have shown up to the event solo. At noon the event teams will begin coding, continuing through the night until noon on Sunday. From 12pm - 1pm on Sunday teams will show off their projects to our panel of judges, mentors, and the other teams in the competition.

Food

For this year's Code|24 we have ordered all of our food through MSU Catering. There should be plenty of food for everyone and we will provide snacks and drinks throughout the event. We also encourage students to bring some of their own snacks and drinks.

Saturday 2pm

Taco Buffet

Saturday 7pm

Baked Ziti Pasta

Spaghetti & Meatballs

Garlic Bread

Caesar Salad

Sunday 8am

Scrambled Eggs

Sausage Links

Donuts

For those that want caffeine to get them through the night, we will have plenty of Voke Tab, Rockstar and Coffee.

What to Bring

Make sure you bring a computer that can access the WIFI. Most rooms in Jabs do not have wired connections, please email me if you will need help connecting your computer to the WIFI and we can find a solution! We also recommend you bring a sleeping bag, pillow, some deodorant and a toothbrush to freshen up before you demonstrate the project for our judges.

You should also make sure that you have the programs you will need ready to go before the competition. Last year we had quite a few projects that used engines such as Unity and XCode. Programs like these take a long time to install on campus wifi! It's also important to keep in mind programs you may need for the front end of your program such as Inkscape, Illustrator, Photoshop, Blender etc.

Prizes

I will be sending out an email tomorrow morning regarding the specific prizes and how they will be judged so keep your eyes open for that in the morning.

Code|24 Social

On Friday night from 5-6pm, we will be holding a short optional event in the Blackstone Launchpad (Located in the SUB by the Union Market) for anyone wanting help figuring out what they will be building/how they will build it. This is also a great opportunity for students to find teams to work on, so if you are looking for a team or would like to find extra members for your team this is a great opportunity for you!

Join the Conversation

We will be inviting everyone to join a slack message board tonight where they can talk with other teams before the event. This is a great place for people to find teams and interesting projects to work on. I will be using this slack channel to let everyone know what's happening at the event and will post updates on the latest and greatest.
