Mark Brand is one of Canada’s most recognized social entrepreneurs. Having successfully created eleven businesses in Vancouver, he has become a prominent example of a new generation of leadership that focuses on passion and purpose. Brand and his teams are determined to breathe new life into marginalized and isolated communities through food, training and meaningful employment. Combining emerging technologies, alternate currencies and historical best practices, they are creating new blueprints to share globally with the intention of bettering the world. Brand has been recruited to speak, mentor and mediate on the topics of social inclusion, community collaboration, and food security from TED talks to correctional facilities, and everywhere in between. He sits on government councils, not for profit boards and business advisory committees bringing the lens of community first.Brand has found a unique balance through his social impact efforts and love for our neighborhoods, proving that you can be successful in business while contributing to your community in a long-term and meaningful way.
Mark Goerner is the founder of Eqogo, a futurist, and the concept illustrator for Minority Report, Constantine, X-men 2, Superman, Iron Man 2, Avatar, Thor, and many others. He has developed training DVDs for digital painting, co-authoring “Concept Design 1-2”, and taught seminars around the world on design methodologies along with classes in visual communication, production and entertainment design at Art Center, Gnomon and others. His new studio centers around innovative products and spaces not yet known.
AJ is a LEED AP ID+C, Allied ASID, Associate Member IIDA, and Associate Member AIA, has been involved in the interior design industry for over 20 years. She currently leads the Architectural & Design Team for Allsteel in North America. She focuses on design for corporations, higher education, K-12 education, public sector and non-profits. She has spent 17 years being a thought-leader for designing for autism where she has designed countless projects, pioneered research and written three books on the design principles surrounding this special population.
Philip Sheppard is a virtuoso cellist, composer, producer, inventor, and creative thinker. Philip’s talent for bridging musical genres, media and industries has led to rather interesting collaborations. He’s worked with David Bowie, Alexander McQueen, Jeff Buckley, UNKLE, Pretty Lights, The Weeknd and Queens of the Stone Age. He has scored more than 30 films including In the Shadow of the Moon, winner of the Sundance Audience Award. He was a producer on the Beijing & London Olympic Games & his music was recently used by JJ Abrams and Disney to promote Star Wars VII, the Force Awakens.
